Custom air-cooled PCs

Air cooling is a considered choice for a custom PC, not a compromise you have to apologise for. The case, cooler, fans and components need to work together.

A capable air-cooled build can suit gaming, creative work or everyday performance. FORCE10 is one Elements visual direction, but the actual specification starts with your use, budget and preference for size, appearance and noise.

Start with airflow, not a fan count

Cool air needs a route into the case and warm air needs a route out. A case with attractive lighting but restricted intake may be a poor fit for power-hungry components. We consider fan placement, filters, cooler clearance and how the finished system will sit on or under your desk.

A larger case is not always necessary. Small cases can work well when component dimensions and heat output are planned together; they simply leave less room for last-minute changes.

Noise is part of the brief

Quietness depends on more than buying silent-labelled parts. Fan curves, cooler size, case panels and the load you place on the PC all matter. Tell us whether the machine will sit beside you for long editing sessions, in a shared room or beneath a gaming desk. We can weigh lower noise against size, appearance and budget.

A balanced parts list

Your games, monitor resolution or professional applications help determine the processor and graphics card. Memory and storage should match the workload, while the power supply, case and cooling need enough headroom for the chosen parts. We will explain where an upgrade is likely to be useful and where it is mostly a bigger number on a list.

Air-cooling questions

Can an air-cooled PC be high-end?

Yes. Whether it is suitable depends on the components, case, airflow and your priorities, not simply the price of the cooler.

Is liquid cooling better than air cooling?

Neither wins every brief. Air cooling is often simpler to maintain; liquid cooling can offer different layout and visual options. We compare them for the build you actually want.

Can I choose the case and colour theme?

Yes, subject to compatibility and availability. Bring a reference image or tell us what you like; we will check that the parts fit and the airflow remains sensible.
